No humane officer should ever think it's okay shoot and kill five innocent 8 week old kittens before the innocent eyes of four young children. But that's what Officer Barry Accorti did on Monday June 10th, 2013. The homeowner and mother of four called in the stray kittens, expecting them to be taken to a shelter. Officer Accorti explained all of the shelters were full, and the kittens would have to be euthanized. Rather than taking them to be euthanized humanely, he pulled out his gun and shot each kitten one by one in front of the homeowner's children, all four under the age of eight. The children began screaming and crying as they heard the gunshots and witnessed the whole thing. Police Chief Mike Freeman said that Accorti’s actions were appropriate and he will not be disciplined for the incident. But no young child should ever have to witness such brutality, especially by a figure they should look up to and respect. If you've ever seen a child play with a kitten, you know the magical bond they share. Tell the North Ridge Police Department and Police Chief Mike Freeman to TAKE DISCIPLINARY ACTION against Officer Accorti for committing such a heinous act in front of children.
