I agree with many who have already signed. $4 million is simply too much to spend on a new facility when the current library can be renovated, especially given its ideal location downtown. An indoor pool would better benefit the community. I hope a lot of public consultation takes place on this issue before any decisions are made. Tax payers should have a say in how these dollars are spent.

Where on earth are we going to get this 4 million dollars? There is absolutely no reason to move the library out of the downtown core.

Leave the Library where it is. I would much rather see the 2 million spent on up keeping the current library, then on a new one on the edge of town. The current library has historic value, looks great with plenty of room, and it is in a great spot downtown with enough parking even.
How about 2 million on an indoor pool that was supposed to happen?
New Hamburg (Wilmot Township) has a really nice indoor pool, nothing too big. New Hamburg and Listowel are about the same size, But Listowel residents would have to drive further to get to another indoor pool.

I am signing this petition as I feel the Library is best situated at its present location. The access for all residents is best on Main street. The facility is a beautiful combination past and present. It is important to the downtown core. I often visit the Library followed by going to shops on Main street - you take that opportunity away if you move the Library. People without transportation would not be able to walk to the Library as they can now. I feel another consideration is a great deal of money was spent to update the present site and create a memorial to those involved in the arena disaster downtown. What a shame for that to be wasted. Keeping the present site also allows some of the 4 million to be shared among all the sites in North Perth not just Listowel. This gives residents in the hamlet areas of our ward access to their present sites that they would not have if the location was moved.

We just put a big addition on the existing Library not that long ago and it will take away from the downtown. The existing Library is also central to the whole town.

Small communities need resources too. Can you show me how moving the Listowel library to the arena is going to save tax payers any money? If the company that was doing repairs to the Listowel library last year didn’t do the job properly- call them up and make them come back to fix their mistake on their dollar- that’s what you would do if it happened to your home. Let’s not waste tax payers dollars and let’s share resources with local communities by allowing them to keep some close to them.

I enjoy walking to the Listowel library, it is within walking distance from where I live. Offering much more than books, I have also used their computers services, and had photocopying done over the last ten years. The staff are very friendly and helpful with any questions you may have. If the present Listowel library was moved out to the west end to the Steve Kerr Memorial Complex, it would be a loss as I do NOT have a car and therefore would NOT be able go to the FUTURE PLANNED LIBRARY. Thank you for your time.
