Bring Wetherspoon's to North Walsham

The Liberal Democrats at North Norfolk District Council have scrapped a plan, years in the making, to bring a new Wetherspoon's to North Walsham. In spite of local rumours suggesting otherwise, Wetherspoon's still want to go ahead. On 12th August 2019, James Marsden (Senior Acquisitions & Estates Manager, J D Wetherspoon) said, "J D Wetherspoon are willing and able to exchange contracts on the property now."

Restoring the building and bringing it back into use will cost £1.6m. Who else has that money to spend on a disused building in North Walsham? If Wetherspoon's don't go ahead, any restoration will have to be funded by you and me: the taxpayers. Also, the 50 new jobs to be created by Wetherspoon's won't happen; and, in the worst-case scenario, this building could lie disused and derelict for many years to come.

This petition calls on North Norfolk District Council to reverse the decision to cancel, exchange contracts with Wetherspoon's, and ensure the family-friendly pub the whole town wants goes ahead.
