Protect provision for children aged 0-2 within North Lanarkshire Family Learning Centres!

Family Learning Centres within North Lanarkshire currently provide allocated places for children aged 0-2 years. These are only available through referral from Social Work, Public Health Nurses and various health professionals when a need is identified. This can be for a number of reasons including safe guarding, when a child has an additional support need or the family need support due to ill health. These places are not about child care, they are a method of providing support for families at risk or in need.

The cut of this provision is a direct cut to support of children with additional support needs, which the council recognised in their proposal. Children with additional support needs have less choice on childcare options, the Family Learning Centre offer a lifeline to these families! For families who may be tackling ill health such as post natal depression or cancer, the centres offer a lifeline! For children who need a bit more care and attention, the centres offer a lifeline!  This is a provision that offers support for the most vulnerable families in a time of need, how can the council justify such a closure?

Please help save the baby rooms by adding your name to this petition. I believe this to be a cause that most people will support knowing the devastating impact this will have on young babies and struggling families.

Please send your stories of how the baby room service has helped your child and family, past or present. State if you wish to remain annonymous or are happy to be contacted. Thank you. Lmilne2017@outlook.com
