Please help save the baby room at "Shawhead Family Learning Centre" in North Lanarkshire from being closed.
The council have made a decision to close down the nursery's baby room due to a cut in funding, I am one of many mother's whose children have massively benefited from the support and assistance the early learning practitioners offer and provide.
Myself personally believe that these cuts should not be taken from this establishment and that other families deserve the care and attention that was afforded to my 2 young children, I have seen first hand the impact the early learning practitioners have had and for that i am entirely grateful, i believe there assistance has had a great impact of my children's early years.
i implore North Lanakrshire Council to reconsider there motion to the close their verdict on closing the baby room at Shawhead Family Learning Centre.
Here is a comment from one of the other mum's: (Samantha) When my daughter was 1 i struggled with mental health issues and was admitted into hospital between my CPN and health visitor they managed to get my daughter into " Shawhead Family Learning Centre " in the baby room which helped give me time to get myself back on my feet and also so i could attend appointments, The baby room as bought isla on leeds and bounds and had help build a close relationship between us as i can have some breathing space on yet difficult days and she gets to spend time with kids her ages and helps stop the isolation that had formed as we didnt go out or do anything else and am pretty sure there are plenty of other parents in my situation would benefit from this so it cant and shouldn't be taken away from them.
Not many parents can afford to get private child care, the only other one that is in Coatbridge is Dunbeth which for people who don't live near that area is a big stretch as it is a long walk to and from there, from different areas and for kids who are disabled and don't have access to a car.
There are already babies in there that will have to change nursery or go without as they wont hit the age range for the access to go into the 2-3 year old room.
From all us parents and staff of the nursery we would appreciate it if you could help us by signing this petition to save our baby room from closing down, many parents value the assistance the baby room provides.
I am setting up a Gofundme page to get donations for the nursery to help keep the room open any donation big or small will help make a big difference and from all us we thank you.
Another comment from a parent : (Eliazabeth) As someone who suffers with social anxiety, i worried that my daughter would inevitably foster the same habits as myself and aviod social situations and interaction. It was on the advice of my Health Visitor that we applied to have Jade start nursery while she was still roughly eight months old, a means to potentially avoid her picking up the same habits and avoiding contact altogether. It was a godsend to know that the application was accepted and i could do at least one thing to avoid future fall out while i worked through my own social anxiety. She bonded very quickly with her key worker at the time and while it took her a while to finally entertain the idea of going to anyone else, she did slowly start to come out of her shell. She's now three and in the butterfly room, Thanks to those early years and care and patience of the care practitioners, she is a completely different child to the one who first started attending at eight months old. To close the baby room is to potentially put other parents in my position in a place where they may not be able to find the help they so desperately need and the knowledge that their children are with people who genuinely care and want to help. If not for the baby room, my daughter and i wouldn't be where we are today.
Thank you for taking the time to read this, we do appreciate anyone who signs this .
Thank from us parents and the staff members .
