This petition is being submitted to highlight the concerns of residents along and around the area of Margaret Street, Immingham, regarding speeding vehicles.
Residents are becoming more and more concerned about the speed of traffic along Margaret Street , Immingham because we have young and elderly persons living along this road and its surrounding areas. We have walkways between streets that open directly onto Margaret Street and as such presents a hazard to both pedestrian and traffic user alike.
Because of a significant increase in traffic over the years, persons are parking along Margaret Street, especially around Eastfield School and creating 'bottle neck' scenarios which puts road users, school users and pedestrians at risk.
There has been several accidents / incidents over the years whereby parked vehicles have been struck by speeding ones, instances of our pets being struck and killed / injured by speeding motorists and Road Traffic Collisons at junctions with other streets motorists entering Margaret Street, most notibly from Pilgrims Avenue.
Margaret Street is one of the few streets in the Immingham area that is very straight from the Pelham Road junction to its end at Fair Isle Rise. Margaret Street also has several junctions, a school and a Public House along its length.
The speeding traffic has no identified period of time (school etc) and is also exasperated by motorcycle users attempting to reach maximum acceleration along its length.
If a program of traffic calming measures (staggered build outs / table tops / speed camera) are not employed, there will be a serious accident in the very near future.
