As of April 3, 2020 the state of North Dakota has 174 reported positive cases of COVID-19 and 3 confirmed deaths. This continues to climb every day and shows no signs of slowing for some time. 

North Dakota is currently one of only 5 states without a shelter-in-place.

Governor Burgum has emphasized “North Dakota Smart” but doesn’t follow the recommendation of Dr. Fauci, to shelter-in-place. By not following the recommendation, Governor Burgum is not making “North Dakota Safe.”

In this very uncertain and scary time, our state needs strong leadership. North Dakota needs a governor who is willing help his state to do everything it can to flatten the curve.

As a citizen, wife, and mother, I am frightened at the prospect of needless deaths because of a lack of leadership at the state level. People need to realize how serious this is. Governor Burgum needs to enforce the seriousness of this. He hasn’t even been able to address when the “peak” will be because of “different models.” Set the example, Be the Model, give North Dakotans the best chance possible for the entire population.

Governor Burgum needs to understand that while people are indeed responsible for their own health we must also do our part to protect the medically complex, immunocompromised, and elderly. I firmly believe the majority of this state understands the vital importance of a shelter-in-place order and we need leadership who supports the health and wellness of all North Dakotans.
