Ben Weiss started this petition to North Central College

As of August 2, 2020, the cases of COVID-19 have only increased, with a reported 47,335 cases in the United States, and 1,467 in Illinois.

Because of this increase in cases, North Central College should not be opening up campus for the fall semester, and should instead implement an all online semester plan.

Firstly, the risk is too great to have people live on campus and participate in normal classes. No matter what precautions you take, being in a situation where you aren’t social distancing and are in contact with people is not going to be realistic, especially when our rooming still has roommates and many classes are still in person.

Also, if you take the precautions to have some classes be online, why are we still given to option to be on campus and be in physical classes. With over thousands of people going to the school, the risk of spreading COVID-19 is great.

Also, in case there was a scenario where COVID did spread, it not only inconveniences international students, students from other states and those who paid for housing, but you contributed to the spread of COVID-19

The pandemic is not over. We need to take this semester online. Please consider our plea and make the right choice.
