Dr. Perkins is a professor within the School of Social Work at North Carolina State University. His students have consistently expressed their discontent with Dr. Perkins' disposition, pedagogy, and commitment to their education. With student disgruntlement being publicly visible for many years, NC State still employs and protects Dr. Perkins at all costs.

With the cost of education in the United States only increasing, the voices and concerns of students must be addressed. Furthermore, the Social Work profession should express zero tolerance towards repeated microaggressions and disrespect from educators in the field.

Dr. Perkins is solely responsible for the reputation that he has built, and his utter disregard for his students and the social work profession precedes him. If the experiences of his students is anything to go by, his reputation is capable of tarnishing that of the School of Social Work at NC State.
 
In order for NC State students to meet the competencies set forth by the Council on Social Work Education and for the School of Social Work to uphold its mission statement and prestige, student concerns surrounding Dr. Perkins must be addressed with sincerity and urgency.
