The right to keep exotic reptiles in NC
I live in North Carolina. And have owned harmless reptiles my whole life. Leopard geckos, chameleons ball pythons exc. I use them to teach and educate children at schools about them. Mostly all reptile owners are responsible, and up until the Zebra snake incident. No one had an issue with reptile owners. Because of this one persons bad decisions the rest us, who have spent years, educating ourselves and others, rescuing abused abandoned reptiles , now may suffer. I do believe we should still have the rights to own reptiles, even exotic ones. With that being said of course rules need to be followed.
These are harmless and should be allowed.
•Non-venomous snakes
•Non-venomous lizards/geckos
I know these animals are not a danger to anyone, I believe those living in North Carolina need to be properly educated on that.
The reason for this petition is because I’ve struck a large interest in chameleons and leopard geckos, also ball pythons and other exotic reptiles as of late. And have used my interest to educate others. After extensive research, I know none of these animals would harm anyone or thing. They couldn’t damage any properties, especially not like new puppies do when chewing up walls and other things. All animals listed below are all contained in small, securable enclosures. They would not pose a threat to anyone. State and city laws/regulations would still be in effect, but these animals mentioned are perfectly fine to own.
These animals are an area of passion for many many people around the world.
For all passionate animal lovers like myself, please share and sign this petition. Thank you all.
