We need a more environmentally conscious alternative to cement. The cement used in making concrete produces a large amount of carbon dioxide that goes into the atmosphere. For every 1000kg (1 ton) of cement produced, 900kg of carbon dioxide is expelled. Ferrock poses an environmentally conscious alternative to cement. It is created with excess iron found in steel dust (a byproduct of steel production that is normally thrown out) that hardens and functions just as concrete would. Not only does Ferrock produce less carbon dioxide when being created, it also absorbs carbon dioxide in the atmosphere as it dries.

Ferrock shows the potential to be stronger than leading types of concrete and cement. Ferrock is slightly more expensive than cement, so a tax break would equalize the cost and incentivise the use of this eco-friendly product.
