Allow Physicians to continue supervising homebirth CNMs in NC
In North Carolina homebirth is under attack. Last night the North Carolina Medical Board advised a physician in the eastern part of the state that he was no longer allowed to supervise certified nurse midwives outside of his practice. In accordance with North Carolina Board of Nursing requirements, CNMs must "perform the acts authorized by the Midwifery Practice Act under the supervision of a physician who is actively engaged in the practice of obstetrics in North Carolina". This act alone has left 7 Certified Nurse Midwives without a license, countless women without a care provider. Tell the NC Medical Board to stop attacking homebirth providers!
