KG Joyce started this petition to North Carolina Governor and

Your voice matters, Your vote matters. Join the campaign to lower the municipal voting age in NC.

Have you ever wanted to change something big in your community? Do you feel strongly about the political issues in your area? Do you ever wonder who is in charge of the funding your school gets, or the roads and parks you see and use every day? Do you feel like these rules affect you, but you always feel "belittled" because you can't express your voice to the government by voting? Trust me, a lot of us do.

16-year-olds and 17-year-olds have a stake in the game. You can work, drive, pay taxes, and the issues in your hometown affect you but you can't let your voice be heard because you are not allowed to vote.

Voting is the most common way that everyday citizens interact with their local government and let their opinions about local issues be heard. The majority of municipal laws affect young people, but young people cannot have a say.

By signing this petition, you are joining the campaign to lower the voting age at the local level in North Carolina. You deserve the right to have your voice heard. Because your voice and your opinions mean a lot. Let's band together to prove to our NC politicians that young people deserve the chance to vote and vote for a positive change!

Thank you so much for signing and being interested in our campaign! For more information check out our Instagram @vote16nc.
