End the North Carolina School Year, Distance Learning is Not Fair to All
Why this petition matters
End the NC School Year NOW. Distance Learning is NOT FAIR to ALL Children
Due to the pandemic of the Covid-19 virus, all NC schools have been closed since mid-March. This past week, the schools have started a Distance Learning Program. This program is not fair to all children. There are substantial differences between the requirements of each district ,even between schools in the same county. No standard form of communication between teachers, parents and students.
Many, many children in rural areas do not have access to the technology that is being used. No internet, no computers, no English speaking parents to help with the work.
Parents that can work from home, need to work, not spend 4-5 hours a day teaching their kids.
Parents aren't teachers. The school curriculum has changed greatly in just the last couple of years, and students from the 4-5 grades are doing work that in the past was done in the 8-9 grades.
The entire situation is causing undo stress to the people of NC. It is time to end the school year for grades k-11, using the same criteria as the graduating seniors.
Now is the time to end the school year for 2019-2020 and take this pressure off the parents and children on North Carolina.
