Please sign this petition to support a change to the policy including:

1) open seat for graduation student that is deceased. Allowing for flowers or small memorial item be placed.

2) honorary diploma for deceased student, whether requirements met or not and student in good standing, and presented to parents.

3) flowers on stage in honor of specific student and listed in program. Flowers them presented to family post-graduation.

4) call the students name for their diploma and allow parents to receive it for them

5) allow students to decorate their graduating hats in the way seem fit

6) apply policy as able to past students if requested by parents and all students going forward. Regardless of how they died. We honor their life, not their death.

Story of Brianna below:

Brianna was a friend to all. She had overcome her obstacles and blossomed during her high school years. She was taking college credit classes and had set the course for great things when she graduated. She worked 2 jobs and recently joined FBLA. Brianna was someone you would never miss coming into a room. Her silent entry carried such a loud spirit, you always noticed. She liked to make people laugh and took care of the ones she loved. She would always make sure her friends were ok. Brianna had met the love of her life, Harley. Our family looked forward to their life together. She was an amazing sister to each of her 5 siblings and they all looked up to her. Brianna was brilliant and had a zest for life. She was also my absolute rock. On March 18th that tragically came to an end with a devastating accident. On March 19th she was declared dead. Brianna’s final gift of life was saving 5 lives through organ donation. A boy will walk the stage with her heart this year. Bittersweet.

i have attended 3 Norris Board Meeting, supplied letters from students and parents, wrote letters myself and made countless phone calls. The only revision to the policy made was flowers on the stage in remembrance of anyone who couldn’t be there, diploma with name in program IF grad requirements met, and no personalized memorial of a deceased student. This is actually copy and pasted from Wavery’s policy; not because it was a good policy but because it requires no effort and they could pass the buck to them. A board member of Norris has a son who sits on the Waverly board. Coincidence?

In the end, the seniors want this and this is their day. Help me support the class of 2019 and all other class led who may walk this journey.
