The proposed Norman Economic Development Authority does not fit Norman's values. It needlessly creates a new governmental entity, with vast powers, that provides special access to special interests while limiting the input of the general public. Development decisions affect us all. But the proposed NEDA guarantees special seats at the table to bankers, lawyers, accountants, and the financial industry, as well as the Norman Economic Development Coalition and Chamber of Commerce, while demoting other citizens to second-class status. Norman already has all the tools it needs to do economic development the right way.
