PRIMARY SCHOOLS ARE LOSING CLASS TEACHERS!!  We need a TEMPORARY FREEZE put on Primary Teacher numbers so no school loses a class teacher as we return to school in a pandemic. The Government needs to go back to their Return to School Plan and put this freeze in place.

Due to enrolment figures on September 30th 2019 Primary schools were allocated teachers for the following school year. St. Patrick's NS, Harestown, along with many other schools in the country, are losing class teachers meaning classes will now have to be mixed and they will increase significantly. One class in Harestown NS is increasing from 20 to 30 children, other classes are increasing by 7 & 8 children. All of this is as a result of losing ONE teacher.

I feel that in the upcoming school year, when we are returning to school in a pandemic, that the Department of Education and the Government should be doing everything in their power to keep class sizes reduced and make it their business not to allow class sizes to increase to protect the lives and health of our children and meet the social distancing requirements. .

How can the Department of Education, the Government, the Minister of Education and the Taoiseach of Ireland stand over this?

PLEASE HELP US RETAIN OUR PRIMARY TEACHER NUMBERS.

PLEASE SIGN THIS PETITION FOR THE CHILDREN OF IRELAND AND OUR CLASS TEACHERS!
