Paved Shoulders for Erie Blvd and the Causeway in Norfolk County
0 have signed. Let’s get to 1,000!
Norfolk County's Official Plan calls for safe access to our trials and roadways for walking, running and cycling. Our cycling strategy requires safe access from our communities to our scenic rural cycling routes.
Residents and visitors to Long Point do not have safe access along Erie Blvd and the Causeway.
There are over 1,000 properties in Long Point plus family, friends and visitors. There are also trailer parks, rental cottages, marinas, a hotel, day visitors and 130,000 visitors to the provincial Parks annually. There is an extremely high convergence of vehicular traffic (including wide campers and boat trailers) with the pedestrians and cyclists.
Erie Blvd and the Causeway are scheduled for repaving in the next few years. The inclusion of paved shoulders on both sides of Erie Blvd and the Causeway would improve safety and enjoyment for pedestrians, cyclists and motorists. There are additional benefits for the economy and the environment.
We insist that Norfolk County include paved shoulders on Erie Blvd and the Causeway when these roads are resurfaced.
