No Norfolk Sand To Be Used For Fracking

Petition started by the group 'NORFOLK AGAINST FRACKING'.
The aim of this petition is to demonstrate that the people of Norfolk do not want Norfolk silica sand used in the fracking process.
If current plans for fracking in the UK go ahead, very large quantities of silica sand will be required and the quarrying of sand in West Norfolk could increase dramatically.
At present, silica sand is extracted from quarries in West Norfolk to make glass. Elsewhere in the world, silica sand is used in the controversial fracking process, which involves shattering underground shale rocks in order to extract any trapped gas.
Any increase in silica sand quarrying would obviously have detrimental effects on the local environment, people and wildlife. Silica sand quarrying has also been linked to health problems caused by the small particles of sand blown by the wind.
Norfolk Against Fracking campaigns against fracking and quarrying for frack sand, locally, nationally, internationally. For more information, email email@example.com or search Facebook for Norfolk Against Fracking.
