Acting on the advice of the parish council, this is a petition to reduce the speed limit along the A1101 Suspension Bridge residential area (from Bells Drove to the End of Suspension Bridge and to the village of Welney) from 60mph (which is very often not adhered to) to 30mph. The ever increasing volume of traffic on the road is causing an extremely dangerous situation when residents are trying to pull out of their concealed driveways onto the A1101. Many motorists are exiting the village of Welney and using the bridge’s hairpin bend as an opportunity to immediately accelerate, therefore passing our properties at high speed. This makes it extremely difficult to pull out of driveways safely. The properties are home to families including young children whose safety is at risk. We have had numerous occasions when preparing to pull out of our driveways (when the road is clear) where a speeding vehicle has suddenly appeared from over the bridge narrowly avoiding a serious collision. This situation is only getting worse. Please help us keep our families and motorists safe by signing this petition. This will then be sent to Norfolk County Council Highways and to the Police.

A speed reduction to 30mph either side of Suspension Bridge residential area would help solve this problem.
