Help bring Champion Brewery to Norfolk, VA!

Please support the rezoning effort of the Norfolk Unitarian Church located along the Hague to allow for a brewery; specifically Champion Brewery. The current congregation is moving to Virginia Beach and has been trying to sell the property for over three years.
This a difficult adaptive reuse project but we feel that a brewery/tasting room is a wonderful adaptive reuse idea that will maintain the historical structure of the 100 year old building. It fits well with the growing area, including the NEON district. We have support from the Chrysler Museum and the surrounding business community which has agreed to share parking.
However, the property will need a zoning change. It's worth mentioning that almost every new use for this property will require a rezoning. The existing church isn't a conforming use of the current zoning!
There are a few (very few) neighbors that are fighting the rezoning. Although they do not have an answer for what should go into the soon-to-be vacant church (nor how to pay for it), they have circulated a petition to stop our rezoning application.
We are looking for your support! If you're in favor of new breweries in our area or just in favor of making sure an historical building continues to flourish and not go dark, please sign our petition. We need your help to bring Champion Brewery to Norfolk and to save this 100 year old historic building!
