Let's make Juan Villar the next Chancellor for NYC Schools!

This petition had 1,087 supporters

Current NYC Schools' Chancellor, Carmen Fariña, the person in charge of all NYC public schools, announced that she will be retiring from her position this coming year.

Through this petition, we are calling for Mayor Bill DeBlasio to make Juan Villar the next Chancellor of NYC public schools.

Juan Villar is the current principal of the High School for Media and Communications at the George Washington Educational Campus in Northern Manhatttan. Mr. Villar has been an educator and community leader, who has touched the lives of thousands of young people in his nearly 30 years as their teacher, principal and mentor. Mr. Villar was a founding member and principal of Gregorio Luperón High School, a successful public high school in Washington Heights designed to help newly arrived Spanish speaking immigrants to learn English, obtain a high school diploma and start a college education ready to succeed.

Besides being a tireless educator, Mr. Villar has authored multiple works of fiction in Spanish. Mr. Villar is also a dedicated husband and a father of two.
