There were 1,299 stabbings in London up to the end of April, according to official statistics from the Met Police.

In February more than 250 knives and swords were seized across London in just one week and 283 people, many of them teenagers, were arrested for carrying them.

SOLVE:

  1. i think we need to encourage teenagers to go to youth clubs in areas which are around flats and they need to be noticed that they can go to a youth club. This is good because there is someone responsible and someone they can eventually speak to and trust whilst doing activities and keep entertained also it will prevent teens from hanging around shops and out about with nowhere to go. However this is an issue now because the local council cut youth service budget by £1M and the youth club I went to shut down so have many! This could be a major cause as to why knife crime is increasing!!
  2. Another solution is that the consequence, or the amount of time they stay in prison has to be a lot longer because young children aren’t afraid of a little over 4months because it won’t affect them so they’ll be fearless to carry a knife.“If you go prison you are made to feel like nothing, like nobody wants you, and that’s valid in some sense. Don’t get me wrong, if you do bad things you need to be punished, and dangerous people need to be segregated from society, but where do we need to go from there? It’s the whole idea of locking them up and throwing away the key. When they come out are they just meant to be cold hard killers? How do you address the archaeology of their offending, how do you go beneath it?”
  3. Also another solution I think is that as young children like to listen to people at there age who understand them and are easier to talk to rather than older adults and usually young children look up to celebrities there age. If celebrities spoke more about the issue and gave advice more it could help a lot of people and the problem here is that a lot of rappers encourage violence in there songs so I think it would also help if that was not allowed since it has a big influence
