Being a BDS student is not easy. You have a lot of practical work and alot of dry subjects to mug up and read. As getting a seat is easy people think it to be childs play. I wanted an MBBS seat initially and wanting to do BDS was not my interest or expertise. Being a BDS student means you do have to deal with alot of handwork and that plays a major role in the practicals. Some people say that BDS is somewhat equivalent to artwork. Some students are good at practical work while some do good at theory. At the beginning of the course you are told that the first 3 years of BDS and MBBS can be called the same. But it is the not a cup of tea. MBBS students have a previlige to clear the subjects if at all they fail in one or more than one. They have been introduced to instants which take place in a month or two after the results are out and they get the opportunity to clear them. Though the portion of MBBS students is vast this opportunity plays a crucial role as they may not lag in their studies and continue to perform as regular students. Another aspect is that the 2nd year of MBBS is of 1 and a half year duration as they have 4 subjects. Whereas the BDS students have 6 subjects to clear in the 2nd year with 3 medical subjects and 3 dental subjects including the practicals. They also have to write microbiology and pathology together same as physiology and biochemistry in the first year which are individual subjects for MBBS. Facing all these issues with a lot of practical work at hand and the theory preparation the BDS students donot get the opportunity to get a second chance so that they can clear the subjects they failed in and move ahead with the course. We students have to face a time period of 6 months in order to write the supplementary exams if we failed in more than one subject. We then have to clear it and then join the college while the MBBS students donot lose any time. So i would really appreciate if we got an opportunity like this so we can clear the subjects we lagged behind in while still being in the regular batch. The strength of the class keeps reducing year by year and the students in the referred batch arent even taken that seriously as that of the regular batch. So my question is why have so much of trouble when things can be made easier? Why create batches? Why cant we have instants like the MBBS and clear them and move on?

This question made me take this initiative. In the end both the fields work for the wellfare of the society. For good health and hygeine. Then why differentiate? 

I would really whole heartedly want to request the government to take some action regarding this issue so that we students pass out and keep moving and serving the society.

In the hope to create a better place for the students to study without stress and fear. I bring on this petition. To remove the odd batch from BDS education system and to be made a regular batch with introduction of instants as in MBBS education system.
