NOMINATING MR. FIROZE B. ANDHYARUJINA AS THE PARSI/IRANI ZOROASTRIAN REPRESENTATIVE AT THE NATIONAL COMMISSION FOR MINORITIES
3 May 2017
Dear Zarathushti humdins,
At present there is a vacancy for the position of a Parsi Zoroastrian representative at the National Commission for Minorities, Government of India.
IDEAL REQUIREMENTS OF THE NOMINEE
The nominee to such a position must be a Parsi Zarathushti who is fully conversant with our age-old and time-tested religious mandates so that our divinely revealed religious laws are not altered or thrown out in haste due to ignorance of religious rules. It stands to reason that the nominee should also be fully informed of any and all legal issues facing the community in India.
WHOM WE DO NOT WISH TO NOMINATE
It will be disastrous for our religion and community if a person who is of a liberal or reformist disposition is chosen to represent our ethnicity based Parsi community. Such a person would be against our traditions, rituals, religious practises, Dokhmenashini (disposal of the dead) and our efforts in maintaining our ethno-racial identity through marriage within our Parsi community only. We also do not wish to nominate a Parsi who is married outside the community since that person ceases to be a good role model.
WHOM WE WISH TO NOMINATE - MR. FIROZE B. ANDHYARUJINA
Hence, we a group of concerned Zoroastrians from India and around the world, the overwhelming and hitherto silent traditional majority, are collectively and decidedly of the opinion that Mr. Firoze Behramshah Andhyarujina, a Senior Advocate of The Supreme Court, is best suited to represent us in view of his deep understanding and knowledge on every subject that might concern our community.
Mr. Firoze B. Andhyarujina is exceedingly knowledgeable about the laws of the country as well as about our religion. He is a highly reputed Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Bombay and has represented India abroad at various events. A highly-respected member of our community as also of our country, he has delivered lectures on different subjects, religious as well as legal, all over India and abroad.
Additionally, he is from Udvada and hails from one of the 9 esteemed "kutumbies" (families of Udvada) who have been looking after our Pak Iranshah (Fire Temple) since centuries. Udvada is our one and only Yatra Dham in the whole world.
He possesses a calm, humble, yet erudite demeanour because of which we can say with conviction that he would clearly be the most suited Parsi today in all of India to be appointed to represent our community at the National Commission of Minorities in both ecclesiastical and legal matters. We are confident that his appointment to the National Commission for Minorities as the Parsi representative will ensure justice and glory to our community, and also to India.
We hope that the nomination of Mr Firoze B. Andhyarujina as our community’s representative at the National Commission for Minorities, will be accepted by the Central Government at Delhi as well as by the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
We repeat in closing that we, as a community, are very grateful to our Honourable Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi, who has always been ready and willing to help in our community’s survival and well-being.
