Samantha Jenner started this petition to Mayor of the Town of Nolensville Mayor Jimmy Alexander and

My name is Samantha Jenner, we are neighbors, and I want to share a very urgent concern I and a number of our fellow neighbors have about safety in our community: HIGH SPEED AND RECKLESS DRIVING THROUGH OUR NEIGHBORHOOD IS PLACING OUR FAMILIES AT RISK AND WE ARE PETITIONING OUR ELECTED OFFICIALS FOR HELP.

I live in the neighborhood of Burkitt Place and Whitney Park located in Nolensville Tennessee. The neighborhoodranges from young families to empty nesters. Our neighborhood is a tight knit, active community with lots of children playing outside and people walking, running or biking throughout the community.

My Family and I have loved living here over the past here 3 years and want to continue to do so. I’m sure most of you feel the same way, but- CARS AND TRUCKS SPEEDING THROUGH OUR NEIGHBORHOOD ARE PUTTING ALL OF OUR FAMILIES AT RISK.

I live on Middlewick Lane, at the top of a blind hill. Every day I watch cars and trucks drive past my house going between 40-60 mph. I have 2 small children and I am terrified to allow them to play in our front yard. I know that I am not the only parent with a legitimate concern that one of our children will be hit. In fact, just last week a young girl was crossing the street to her bus stop and was almost hit by a speeding car. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE, IT’S PREVENTABLE, and we need to make some major changes in order to keep our neighborhood safe.

With the increase of residential and commercial development in the area, traffic has increased substantively, and this is to be expected. But with that growth in traffic, our once safe neighborhood has become dangerous for not only our children but anyone walking or simply trying to cross the street. Let’s help those behind the wheel become better drivers while they’re driving through our neighborhood. I think most of the fix for this is quite simple. It’s done all over the State and Country in neighborhoods that truly care about each other’s safety.

Our Petition will ask for help from our elected officials to make the following changes:                                    Set Appropriate SPEED LIMITS andappropriate number of STOP SIGNS at intersections, install SPEED BUMPS in areas with long, unimpeded stretches of road, and install a few strategically placed SPEED CAMERAS.

We are joining this petition in hopes that we can get our city council to address this urgent problem, and make the changes that will prevent a tragic accident, and may even save a life.

If you agree that our neighborhood needs some major changes in help reduce speeding, please sign this petition so we can make a positive change!

Thank you so very much for being a good neighbor.
