Pastor Umar Mulinde dared to convert from Islam to Christianity, and more, to become a Christian minister, though he knew the huge risk he was taking. Islamic religious texts support the killing of those who leave.

I think of the worldwide concern for Malala Yousafzai, the Pakistani girl shot by the Taliban for wanting girls to be allowed to get an education. I support her nomination.

Umar Mulinde deserves the same honor for his bravery, for having the courage to live his truth. His face has been half burned off by acid. And he is one of the lucky ones. Others have not survived.

He even dared to speak up for Israel.

If Malala Yousafzai deserves a nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize, surely anyone who converts to Christianity in a Muslim country deserves a nomination.

I say it's time to nominate Umar Mulinde. A gift to him from all the people who care and who honour his courage.
