No Youth Left Behind

No Youth Left Behind
Let's Play Ball! Unfortunately, all children won't have an opportunity to do so because youth are being rejected and denied an opportunity to play during the North Ward Center's Spring 2022 Season. As outlined on the North Ward Center's Website, "The North Ward Center was founded on the vision that community is connected to neighborhood stabilization. Unfortunately, inner-city youth development programs are dwindling. We want to expand on our promise and build a place where kids are welcomed, and doors remain open."
As a reminder, our coaches have been supporting and volunteering with the NWC for years as a way to help strengthen the community through sports. Our parents have dedicated their time, effort and resources to support the efforts of the NWC and youth development.
Unfortunately, with the recent changes in the leadership we are concerned that there has been a disconnect in which leads to the youth missing out on opportunities to not just play sports but to build long lasting friendships, work as a team, and learn life lesson.
We demand for the North Ward Center to live up to their mission by providing each and every child an opportunity to engage in extra curricular activities without being rejected because spots are "filled up". We advise for leadership to extend the time frame for which youth can register to play during the 2022 season and/ or create additional teams in which all players willing and wanting to play have an opportunity to do so. We are hoping a prompt action will be taken so that we can plan for a successful baseball season.
Thank you
