George Osborne announced that a portion of the money raised from tax on sanitary products is being given to anti-abortion charity "Life", on the grounds that it is a "women's charity".

A quarter of a million pounds is being given to the anti-choice group.

According to their website, they think that "abortion is a tragedy" and "the act of abortion is always wrong", even in cases of rape and if the mother's life is at risk.

We do not accept that "Life" is a "women's charity".

We strongly oppose the government funding of groups that deny women the right to choose.

We believe that this is an insulting response to the demand to end tampon tax, as it is not in the best interests of women, and completely misses the point.

We call for the government to remove this funding urgently!
