No Supra for You!

No Supra for You!
Why this petition matters

The MLS should allow real estate photographers to access Supra lockboxes via the CBS code. The existing system is antiquated, unsafe, & inconvenient.
Problem: Without this access, agents and homeowners currently have to take time out of their busy days to meet a photographer, or resort to using combination lockboxes or hiding keys, resulting in increased liability for all concerned. (We’ve all walked up to a house with the combination for a combo box already punched in!)
The fact that agents can’t designate access by CBS code for any service provider puts MLS technology behind the ability of an average smart lock on the market. In reality, the problem isn’t the technology; the problem is the MLS’s rule system that hinders agents from using the appropriate, existing technology for the benefit of their clients.
Small changes would enable real estate agents & photographers both to work much more efficiently & seamlessly together (similarly to how most inspectors can already access houses) while lessening risk & liability to the homeowner & listing agent as well as providing added safety for photographers & residents. Inspectors have this ability because several years ago agents & inspectors pushed for this access. It’s time to petition again and bring our MLS into the 21st century.
Solution: We believe the MLS system should be a step AHEAD of an average smart lock. To accomplish this, we are asking the MLS to allow photographers to lease supra access at the same rate as an agent and to submit to a background check just like an agent (background checks make this safer than the average smart lock & leagues beyond a combo box).
Requiring the CBS code ensures no photographer will have access to a Supra without the listing agent's knowledge, permission, & a record of their specific visit. Greenville’s MLS policy prohibiting Supra access for non-licensed photographers is antiquated & falling behind other MLS systems around the country. This process is already in place in many markets across the country, including neighbors in North Carolina & Georgia.
