Respected HODs and Principal Sir of our college, students of Thadomal Shahani Engineering College request you to please go through the following:

Reasons why Semester 3 exams shouldn't be held offline:

1. Many students aren't fully vaccinated because of the 3 months waiting period of CoviShield.

2. Many students live outside Mumbai at very far places like Jammu, Nagpur, Shirpoor, Indore etc. These studentshave to rent flats or find hostels to live in Mumbai & enquiring and finding about the same can only be done after Diwali time. Which will take weeks

3. Train tickets are not available because of such a short notice and diwali season. And prices of flight tickets are very high. So people who live out of Mumbai will face many problems

4. Many students have engaged themselves in multiple internships simultaneously as because of online college, hours in travelling time & other factors were being saved but this WILL NOT be the case when offline college starts. Which will result in incomplete internships of many students as they will have to quit them. 

5. Train tickets are not available because of such a short notice and diwali season. And prices of flight tickets are very high. So people who live out of Mumbai will face many problems

6. People who live out of Mumbai also have to pack all their belongings, furniture in some cases and shift to Mumbai which will take weeks. Side by side, they will have to study for exams, do college projects etc. while their focus will be on shifting and settling into the place where they will live for the next 3 years

7. Students were informally informed by teachers that UTs & final semester 3 exams will be held online due to which students got the time to focus on things such as extra projects, research work etc. which now they will have to abandon due to sudden announcement of offline exam

8. Students have had all lectures in all online mode, learning important subjects through PDFs and PPTs. We have been staring at a computer screen for months unable to properly ask doubts and get them solved. Teachers have had difficulty explaining topics through a computer screen & students have had difficulty learning. We're all used to learning from physical textbooks etc. but we've been using online PDFs as books which makes it very difficult for us to grasp the concepts and focus due to multiple headaches and eye strain.

As Mumbai colleges have the option to conduct exams in offline or online mode, most colleges are conducting in online mode due to the above reasons for Semester 3 students & we request our college to do the same. 

We, students of 2nd year of Thadomal Shahani Engineering College, kindly request our respected HODs & principal, Dr. G.T. Thampi to understand our plight in these difficult mentally straining situations and let Semester 3 exams be held in online mode.
