Waleed kattar started this petition to City of Alhambra

The city of Alhambra is overcrowded. Traffic is already out of control. There are many other park sports that Alhambra can benefit from using the grounds that are already established. Keep our parks and tennis courts less congested. Pickleball can bring up to 16 players per 1 tennis court causing crowding and parking issues. Pickleball has already been established on a “temporary” basis at the Jocelyn Center. The plan is to permanently build a concrete Pickleball court, which will take away the greenery that is much needed in our community, across the street on the grounds at Story Park. This will severely impact the land that is already used by children and adults in the community. It will take the open space used to have parties, soccer, football, baseball, and volleyball, along with the playground area. It will cause a severe problem with the limited parking surrounding the park. Instead of spending money on this new sport, lets use the money to maintain the community centers and parks we already have such as making sure the lighting is working, bathrooms are maintained, benches are maintained, purchasing soccer nets, upgrading the playground equipment etc. This sport is being pushed into our community by non-Alhambra residents who were unable to establish pickleball courts into their own cities. The surrounding community was unaware of these changes. According to one of the City Council meetings, the community does not need to be made aware of these changes unless something is being torn up. We need to take swift action to stop pickleball at Story Park before they proceed with the permanent  structure.
