As everyone I am sure has seen, these housing prices are through the roof and a lot of investors are buying up houses to make into rental properties. My goal is to keep those types of properties out of our neighborhood. We all live in a highly sought after neighborhood in Arlington, and I don't think I am alone in saying I want to keep it that way. Allowing massive amounts of rentals would be detrimental to our home values. If one looks at some of the other, larger neighborhoods in Arlington that have big numbers of rental agency homes you can tell it; the streets are crowded, a lot of the yards are overgrown, some have trash in places it doesn't belong. I have nothing against renting a home as we all have to start somewhere, but in my honest opinion other then the few we already have I don't want to see them in our neighborhood. Our Homeowners Association that we pay annual dues to has the power to make this happen. We just need a majority of residents to sign this petition. If this happens we can have our by-laws legally changed. My suggestion is to "grandfather" the few rentals we already have and get the by-laws changed so we don't allow anymore. I know everyone understands what is at stake here, lets make it happen.
