Petitioning Elected Officials

No More Norquist Rule in America. Sign Before Thanksgiving.

In the Grover Norquist Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a majority of Republican candidates and incumbents solemnly bind themselves to oppose any and all tax increases. But this may or may not be in the best interest of the lawmaker's constituents. A pledge restrains a representative's ability to think responsibly and act effectively. Furthermore, Norquist's attempt to interpret and define what is considered a tax increase is out of bounds in our democracy and inconsistent with a one man-one vote system. Mr. Norquist is not an elected official but rather he is a paid consultant working for corporate entities. We call on all elected officials to follow Rep. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) and renounce the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and their ill-advised allegiance to Grover Norquist and the corporate powers he serves and commit themselves to voting for the best interests of American citizens to close tax loopholes and address the debt crisis that is crippling our economy and crushing our children's and our grand children's future. We ask all patriotic, concerned citizens, Republicans and Democrats, to sign the petition and forward it to family, friends and office holders immediately. America hangs in the balance. Americans must act quickly to save this government of, for and by the people.

Letter to
Elected Officials
I just signed the following petition addressed to: Elected officials.

Renounce the Norquist Anti-Tax Pledge

In the Grover Norquist Taxpayer Protection Pledge, a majority of Republican candidates and incumbents solemnly bind themselves to oppose any and all tax increases. But this may or may not be in the best interest of the lawmaker's constituents. This pledge unwisely restrains a representative's ability to think responsibly and to act effectively. Jeff Fortenberry (R-NE) and renounce the Taxpayer Protection Pledge and their ill-advised allegiance to Grover Norquist and the corporate powers he serves and to commit themselves to voting for the best interests of American citizens to close tax loopholes and address the debt crisis that is crippling our economy and crushing our children's and our grand children's future. We ask all patriotic, concerned citizens, Republicans and Democrats, to sign the petition and forward it to family, friends and office holders immediately. America hangs in the balance. Americans must act quickly to save this government of, for and by the people before the Super Committee acts just after Thanksgiving.
