No Industrialization of Crownsville!
No Industrialization of Crownsville!

Small towns all over the U.S are becoming over run by big corporations and commercialization. While America is a country founded on the premise of democracy, capitalism, and free enterprise there is a boundary that often gets crossed.
Areas like Crownsville are pleasant places to live until developers and big corporations decide they want to build apartment complexes, chain restaurants, fast food establishments, strip malls, convenience stores etc. When these developments occur it only takes one before many others join and a rapid decline in quality of life begins.
A proposal for Dunkin Donuts has been made to build along Generals Highway and we the residents of Crownsville as well as residents of the adjacent district strongly oppose such a proposal for various reasons.
While some industrialization may be good because it creates jobs and brings more income earning opportunities to areas, something like Dunkin Donuts is not what Crownsville needs.
Dunkin Donuts is NOT going to create careers with higher earning potential for residents.
Dunkin Donuts IS going to create more traffic - be it on Generals Highway while people wait to get their coffee or through our quiet neighborhoods to circumvent and bypass the traffic jams Dunkin Donuts is about to create.
With the increase of traffic we have concerns about noise and the safety of our children who bicycle in the street, play at the park etc. If traffic increases through the neighbors the pleasant quietness and the safety of our neighbor is going to be jeopardized for the gains and benefit of who but the person that owns Dunkin Donuts and does not have to live with or experience the inconveniences that will follow.
As residents of Crownsville we write this petition in good faith and with positive hopes that our voices and concerns will be heard.
We urge Anne Adrundel County and the developers or other interested parties involved in building a Dunkin Donuts along Generals Highway to consider alternate locations as there are quite a few that would have much less of an impact on our quality of life.
