I sign a lot of petitions because I believe we should have a voice and be allowed to express it.    However, when I received this request today to sign a petition requesting President Biden to cancel out student debt my answer was no.   

I did not go to college because I could only afford to pay for business school.  I took a loan and paid my debt and  was able to gain employment with the education I received.     

These students that asked to borrow money with the promise to repay the debt.   They received a higher education, which provides them with better employment opportunities than those who could not afford the loans.   This group states that  "The President can cancel out $1.3 Trillion in Federal Student Loans with $0 needed from the Treasure and $0 added to the national debt".    I'm guessing they believe that it's magic money that just appears out of now where. 

I believe reducing interest rates on these loans is fair - however, wiping out their debt for their higher education and higher opportunities is wrong.   I am a senior now, but I don't want my children and my grandchildren have to pay off their debt through higher taxes for these folks who had the privilege of a higher education.    They need to pay their own debt.

So far the other group has more than a 1.6 million signatures.     Please join me in saying no by signing this petition.  I'm not asking for donations, just vote and share.
