Please sign this petition showing our school board that you DO NOT support hiring an armed security guard to patrol Kingwood Township School. There are currently zero guns inside KTS on a daily basis, however arming a security guard will ensure that there will definitely be a gun in the school every single day which means there will be the risk of an accidental discharge and other negligence. Even well-trained individuals can have accidents and make mistakes. Guns significantly raise the seriousness of those potential accidents.

Having an armed security guard will also be a burden on the tax payers. This person's salary alone will be a yearly year over year cost added to the budget, not to mention adding a weapon to the school will most definitely increase the cost of insurance. The money that would be allocated for a security guard could be better spent on enhancing security systems and security features and would likely and up costing less in the long run.
