Evi Wager started this petition to Marc Pons (Conseller de Territori, Energia i Mobilitat) and

A big Photovoltaic Power Park is projected in the Selva valley at the foot of Sierra de Tramuntana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This agricultural landscape known for its beauty, not least in the almond-flower season, is also a well-established and popular cycling and hiking area used by innumerable inhabitants of Mallorca as well as tourists.

The project, if built, will have a vast visual impact on the landscape. It will use the land of a traditional Mallorcan farm and turn it into an industrial site. 100 almond-trees will have to be cut down. The surrounding neighbours will see their property lose value when being fenced in by the solar panel park.

The Solar Power park would cover 35.000 m2 of farmland and be highly visible from most roads and towns on the hills -ironically also from a newly inaugurated and promoted nature hiking trail to Lluc!

We hope the Consellería de Territori, Energia I Mobilitat de Mallorca do not authorise this project.

We want to protect the rural country-side in Mallorca! Please support us by signing this petition!
