Get Rid of Rats at Newport Harbor

It has been said that teachers have forced students to fight for their health in a teaching environment, so for full disclosure, this idea has been thought up of completely by students, and for students.
For two years now, rats have run rampant among the Newport Harbor High school campus. In the past month, the infestation has become unmanageable. In 2016, the district claimed that they had everything under control, but it has become evident that there truly is none.
The NMUSD School District has stood idly by as the health of our students and teachers has been put at risk. They claim that as informed students, we must be fully informed of what they are doing to prevent any sort of viral outbreak, but so far, little has been done.
Students' eating habits and lack of cleanliness have been blamed so far, upon other causes.
Principal Boulton and the staff at Newport Harbor have been incredibly helpful in returning the campus to a safe environment. However, it is a problem that when we use our freedom of the right to protest and the right to free speech and it is shut down and attacked (by the district, not the school staff).
Exposure to rats causes an assortment of diseases that result in everything from fevers to death.

As a student, there isn’t a lot I can do on my own.
Petition the district and the school to make a change and protect the health of community members!
