Sending students back into school using Scenario 2, will cause a massive decrease in learning. While the hope is the population will only be cut in half, many schools in the metro area are over populated meaning it will have to be done in thirds. This cause students to only be taught for three days a week and the other two days we are expected to do either assignments or nothing at all. As much as I have faith in my teachers, I know that having to create a lesson plan and homework plan at the same time is very difficult and there are some sections where no extra work can be done. This will unfortunately result in days where some students have no work. Due to covid-19, what's being taught this year has already been shortened drastically. By slowing down even further many students are worried about not fully completing what is necessary for their later education, whether it be in university or later on in high school. Not only this, bringing us all back into school, even though the population will by reduced, still puts us at risk for covid-19. I understand that there are rules and regulations in place to keep us safe, but schools just don't have the means to distance properly. There's also no mechanical ventilation and more often then not, masks aren't being worn by students properly, and with the rise of the variants we grow more concerned for our health and safety.
