NK residents request amendments to town ordinances pertaining to food truck vendors.

After discussions amongst town residents, we request the consideration from council members on the approval of amendments to town ordinances pertaining to applicable licenses/permits for food truck vendors. The existing ordinances were enacted prior to the State of Rhode Island's Dept of Health over sight and improved regulations and standards for food truck vendors. At the time that North Kingstown implemented their ordinances the food truck industry was not viewed in the same manner as it presently is. Residents request that the town council consider amending the ordinances to reflect current redundancies between state and town statutes. Specific code requirements are already in place by the department of health. Removing the capped 10 vendor permits per year and adjusting the cost to vendors would allow for a more business friendly community. North Kingstown would greatly benefit from events if they could make it easier for vendors. Instead residents have to travel to other towns that are more flexible and business friendly.
By signing this petition I state that I agree with the above.
