Optimum Fails to "Connect" Our Community
Why this petition matters
Optimum has recently taken over Service Electric Cable providing TV, internet, phone, and email service to Sussex County communities. This changeover has resulted in significant and continuing service disruption for many customers. It has affected our ability to communicate, call 911, interact with banks and businesses, and conduct our lives in a manner consistent with today’s reliance on technology.
Optimum’s poor performance has necessitated numerous, lengthy, and unproductive interactions with customer support. Transfers to nowhere are common. Promises of “escalation” of issues result in no further contact. Confusion and canned answers by support agents are the norm. Customers are informed that Service Electric equipment is incompatible with Optimum’s. Customers are spending many hours in unproductive calls and “chats”. As a result, we waste much time, and the services that we pay handsomely for are unavailable or continue with interruptions as non-weather related outages are common.
Optimum’s takeover has resulted in safety issues, a significant disruption of people’s lives, and an inability to seek redress from this company. We ask, as we have been stonewalled from helping ourselves, that you step in to problem solve in this immediate and important assault on our ability to function in our day to day lives.
