I'm signing because I am a teacher who believes that charter schools take funding away from public schools and are crippling the public education system.

The Charter School is not transparent nor successful. I am a founder of the original R.B. Charter.

Charter schools contribute to the achievement gap rather than close it. The question no one who supports charters seems to be able to answer is this: What happens to the students who are denied entry into them? Those students need a place to go and that place is the public school. The public school's funding is decreased though because an increased amount of funds have gone to the charter. Say no to charters, support and fund public education and community programs aimed at providing much needed parenting skills in many of our communities.

We moved here from Rumson to be a part of a more diverse community. My two children have both been in public school since day one. They have received an excellent education and are passionate about learning The staff and administration at the Boro schools are the Best The expansion will affect that quality of education. The statistics have proven that the Red Bank Charter School has not abided by the Charter laws . This is based on facts and statistics not personal opinions. I plead with you to not expand the charter school. Our little town has amazing Public Education and we the people would like it to remain. This is about how it will impact all Boro children, not just a small group who feel they are entitled to something that will strain the rest of the community on a whole.

I'm signing as a former Red Bank resident whose daughter experienced the quality education of the Red Bank Primary School. Our child was selected in the Charter School lottery and could have attended but we rejected the Charter. We CHOSE the Red Bank Primary School after spending countless hours comparing the two schools. We met with representatives of both schools, talked with teachers and looked up information (as much as was publicly available 3 years ago) and came to the conclusion that the Primary was clearly the superior school. There was no evidence that the education was any better at the Charter. The truth is that the Primary School does very well with the limited resources they have but if the Charter School was not siphoning money from the district (and Red Bank schools were unified) ALL Red Bank children would benefit. A Charter expansion is another move in the wrong direction. Red Bank needs more unity...not more division.

Charter schools shouldn't exist at the detriment of public schools.
