Why this petition matters

Started by Manish Ubana

Bakhtiyarpur village and railway station in Patna is named after the invader and murderer called Bakhtiyar Khilji. The man was responsible for burning of the Nalanda University and Vikramshila University and was responsible for the killings of Buddhist monks and destroying Buddhist monasteries . Our ancient wisdom, literature and pride was lost and we have a whole village and Railway Station named after him.

No where in the world expect India we will find cities, roads and places named after the invaders and people who destroyed the indigenous culture and murdered thousands of innocent people. This has to stop and we should start seeking pride in our rich history and the existence of our civilization.

I propose to change the name of Bakhtiyarpur Station and name it after Quarter Master Shaheed Abdul Hamid who singlehandedly hunted 8 Pakistani tanks in the 1965 war.

I also propose to change the name of Bakhtiyarpur Station after the freedom fighter Ashfaqullah Khan
