Dismantle/ban child locks in all Taxis and public transport

With increasing crimes against women and plenty of incidents where errant taxi drivers are involved in such incidents, it has become mandatory to review our safety guidelines on a constant basis.

One such safety regulation relates to the presence of "child locks" on doors of taxis. If the child lock on the door is engaged, the passenger becomes a prisoner in the car and cannot open the door from inside.

While the passenger should be constantly vigilant, there are many times, the passenger may fail to do so for so many reasons.

I propose that he Ministry of Road transport and Highways enact a law which stipulates that the child locks be removed from all cars, cabs, public careers seeking a licence to operate.

Responsibility needs to be fixed in form of punishment to the inspection and licensing authority if they fail to implement the law (once  it is passed).
