I bought a Nissan Altima it was a great car, I gave it to my Mom. I thought Nissan built a reliable car. I went out and purchased another one a 2008 Nissan Altima. A couple of years ago the CVT Transmission went out on me in the middle of a bridge with my 3 children in the car. What a scary experience! I had my car towed to the Nissan dealer who fixed my car. Here we are a couple of years later and I have having the same issues with the transmission. You can be driving along and push the gas and nothing, image you are on the highway like I was the first time. I was just hoping someone did not smash into my car! Nissan never did a recall when it is clearly a know problem with these CVT Transmissions. You would think they would have figured it out after all this time. They have extended the warranty to 120,000 miles and 9/30/17. Well I made it by the date but I am 700 miles over the warranty. I have 120,700 miles on my car. Nissan will not fix my car, I put $1650 into this car this year for other issues and now they want me to pay over $4000.00 to replace the transmission! What? this is not right! When I researched this on the internet there are thousands of stories just like mine or worse about the CVT Transmission failure. They are making billions of dollars selling the cars, make Nissan stand behind their product!
