Why this petition matters

If you're reading this petition then you are probably, like me, a huge fan of the Nintendo series Pikmin. Since I was a child, I have been playing these games. I owned Pikmin and Pikmin 2 for the GameCube, Pikmin 3 on the Wii U, and Pikmin 3 Deluxe on the Switch. While Pikmin 4 and the Niantic-led AR Pikmin game are both things that I look forward to, I can't help but look back. Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are underrated classics that deserve to be remastered for a new generation of gamers to enjoy.

Pikmin and Pikmin 2 follow Captain Olimar as he ventures through PNF-404, a planet distant from his home of Hocotate. He commands a troupe of the titular Pikmin. He fights for survival as he searches for various objects in order to make his way home.

Pikmin and Pikmin 2 are not only some of the most entertaining and challenging games that I've ever played but they are also valuable learning tools for old and new gamers. Firstly, it teaches time management as you must complete an array of tasks before night falls and you must retreat to orbit. You must make a plan and execute it in the allotted time frame or you run the risk of losing many Pikmin to the nocturnal terrors of PNF-404. Secondly, it teaches you how to effectively complete tasks with limited resources. As only 100 Pikmin are allowed in your entourage at a time, you must be able to effectively split them up into different groups to handle a multitude of tasks. Certain Pikmin can only handle certain tasks, a detail that adds a layer of complication to how you manage them as a resource.

Due to my age at the time and how frequently I played these games, my copies are currently scratched beyond readability. Because these games were only ever released for the GameCube there is no way for someone in my position to enjoy these classics. They deserve a remaster and re-release for The Switch so that they can be enjoyed once more.
