Landowner support for Nillumbik Bushfire Mitigation Strategy

Nillumbik Shire is known to be one of the world’s most heavily populated, highly vegetated, fire prone areas on Earth. Post Black Saturday 2009, the new Nillumbik Shire Council has, in 2019, responsively engaged former Emergency Services Victoria Head, Craig Lapsley to develop and publish a new Bushfire Mitigation Strategy (BMS).

NILLUMBIK Pro Active Landowners (PALs) have submitted a response paper to council based on rural landowners feedback on the draft BMS. The PALs submission calls for the recognition of and legitimate role for rural landowners to contribute to a robust strategy. It is critical to the success of any bushfire mitigation strategy that landowners are engaged, empowered and valued for their contribution.

PALs are now calling on Nillumbik residents to show their support of the PALs paper by signing this petition
