Alexis Blackwell started this petition to Nikki Fried

Bees are dying by the millions & a growing body of scientific evidence points to a dangerous new breed of pesticides called neonicotinoids (neonics for short) as one of the main culprits. Please ask Agricultural Commissioner Nikki Fried to protect the Bees in the state of Florida by banning this chemical. Neonicotinoids have already been banned by the European Union. The agricultural industry uses seeds watered with a pesticide called neonicotinoids. Approved by the EPA based on a study funded by the makers of the pesticide, they are addictive toxins bees absorb and take back to hives or nests. The chemical spreads through the bee colonies and eventually kills most, if not all, the bees exposed to it. In turn, crops are not pollinated and are unable to produce food. This is an environmental crisis that threatens not only millions of honey bee hives but also one out of every three bites of food Americans eat. In order to learn more about bees, there is a documentary called "The Pollinators" which explores the plight of both honeybees and commercial beekeepers. It is available through many streaming services. In addition, many insecticides sold for home garden use contain neoics and there are alternative insecticides that do not contain these harmful chemicals.
