Remove Robert E Lee Day From Arkansas Calendars

Today, a friend and I discovered by accident that the third Monday in January, typically reserved to observe Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's birthday elsewhere in the country, is also for observing Robert E Lee's birthday in the state of Arkansas. (Unfortunately this is also the case in three more states: Alabama, Mississippi, and Florida.)

This is unacceptable as a human rights issue. African Americans have centuries of struggle already under their belts. To continue to whitewash Dr. Martin Luther King Jr's legacy in this way is shameful.

Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day was enacted by a President as a day of recognition for his amazing work and a way to pay respect for his sacrifice. The good 'ol boys round these parts have no respect for any of that. You can help us change that! Please help right this wrong!
